Document Summary

Drive theory: biological needs that arise within our bodies and creates unpleasant states of arousal. Homeostasis balanced physiological state: we don"t like extreme arousals. Motivation is basically a process in which various biological needs push us to actions. Biological need drive state activation of many different behaviors behaviors that do not reduce drive are weakened and behaviors that reduce drive are strengthened. Unconscious; law of effect (the actual outcome that lead to the weakening of the behavior) Arousal theory: optimization of arousal level not minimization. We want to reach optimal level of arousal for us: individual differences. In drive and arousal theory, the human beings arousal is involved and influenced through experience. However, in the former the drive theory the biological needs create unpleasant states of arousal when in extreme cases (e. g. hunger). Our bodies try to reach homeostasis for the balance of this arousal.
