PSYCH-UA 30 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Albert Bandura, Behaviorism
Document Summary
Behavior can shape/change environment and vice versa. Father of cognitive behaviorism so to speak. Outcome expectancies expectation that the environment contains rewards potentially or punishments potentially etc: what you believe will be forthcoming from that environment or set of people. Self efficacy: your belief that you can/cannot do a specific behavior if i believe i can do the behavior (like riding a bike), i am more likely to get on a bike and try to ride it. Once i do the behavior, even if not perfectly, it feeds into self efficacy expectation that i can do it again. At least as poorly as before if not better. Need to assess self efficacy about engaging in that behavior if you want to introduce lasting behavior change, it is going to be b/c you"ve changed internal states of the person (i. e. self efficacy expectations) No such thing as generic self efficacy. B p e b etc.
