It was after the italians renaissance that the growth of many sciences took off, including modern architecture that we take for granted. All the middle eastern and chinese civilizations had developed some sort of astronomy o. They created calendars from them, some based on the movements of the moon (lunar) and others on the sun(solar) What the greeks did was improve the description of the movement, adding sophisticated mathematical equations describing the orbits of everything they could see o. This all came to a peak in alexandria, egypt around 200 ad. We can"t feel or see the earth move, but we are. There was a debate over which school was correct. The last director over this school of science was hypatia. Held conferences to see who was correct, but they remained undecided for centuries. Greek books have been found and translated into latin. They still can"t tell who is correct with the naked eye.
