Document Summary

Muscles of the upper extremity and back ii. Innervation to the muscles of the arm, forearm and hand is derived from the terminal branches of the brachial plexus. These terminal branches are: musculocutaneous nerve radial nerve . The musculocutaneous nerve is a continuation of the lateral cord of the brachial plexus. It pierces the coracobrachialis muscle and courses between biceps brachii and brachialis innervating all three muscles of the anterior arm. The median nerve is derived from the medial and lateral roots of the brachial plexus which converge together. It courses through the medial surface of the arm within the neurovascular compartment. the median nerve passes anterior to the elbow in a space called the cubital fossa. Branches of the median nerve supply the majority of muscles in the anterior forearm and give cutaneous innervation to portions of the hand. The ulnar nerve is a continuation of the medial cord of the brachial plexus.
