Children may be born w a core domain of knowledge about living things called the child"s naive biology~ gail melson. Use it as core ref to educate infants about the world. Animals can be used to teach children about social responsibility and compassion for others. Most will strike up convos with pets. Some seem unaware that they don"t respond. By 4 they recognize they won"t answer back. Helps them learn to distinguish communication abilities of diff interactive partners. Animals may help encourage the urge to nature in children. Provide experience of having something dependent on them while they still dependent on parents. Providing children with pets eliminates gender bias associated with caring for animals. Providing them with pets and or agricultural animals to raise and exhibit amy enable them to understand the care that respect for animal.
