That things have a particular attribute or outcome. Descriptive beliefs- are perceptions or hypotheses about the world that people carry in their heads. Ohio state students believe that we have the best damn band in the land, others may hold different beliefs. Expectancy value perspective- attitudes have two functions: cognition- head, affect- heart. Our attitudes are a combination of beliefs and attributes. Symbolic approach- attitudes are characterized by emotional reactions, sweeping sentiments, and powerful prejudices. These symbolic predispositions lie at the core of people"s attitudes to(cid:449)ard so(cid:272)ial issues.
