When change threatens social values and customs dance can be a conservative force. Individuals reaffirm time-honored ways of relating to their neighbors, institutions, and their gods. By dancing in a socially approved way their peers, individuals proclaim their allegiance to society as a whole- or at least to the values that their subdivisions of society holds dear. You take dance with you wherever you go as soon as it gets to a new place, it recreates an important part of their heritage. Resulting in a fusion of dance forms, as people borrow from one another and transform what they borrow to reflect new socialites. Cand african influences combined to create new dance forms of great power and lasting imports in the n&s america and the caribbean. Not all dance forbidden seen as a form of exercise for the slaves to reduce death rates on the ships.
