Steam power means they can produce even more stuff. Steam engines, iron bridges, railroads, public ushing toilets, subways, etc all found in great. The crystal palace sets the stage for new architectural styles. His most prominent thing was a large greenhouse at chatsworth/derbyshire, england. This impressed people so he was commissioned to do the crystal palace. This is one of the rst places to use pre-fabricated materials for construction. Construction took 7 months, which was outrageously fast for something like this. Crystal palace is a series of iron rails with glass on them. A railroad was put in around the construction site to move workers faster. Workers installed about 6,000 columns 45 miles of standard length bars. It was at the time the largest architectural structure in the world, 800,000 square feet. At the end of the exhibition, they took it apart and moved it. Geometry, repetition/amount of glass, lack of ornamentation these were all things that impressed people.
