Design and branding were the sustenance for totalitarianism. Russia, spain, italy were under totalitarianism forms of government. These dictatorships used branding techniques, graphic communication to sustain their messages. The blame for wwi is placed on germany, and they had to pay an unreasonable amount of reparations. Germany starts printing more money and hyper-in ation occurs. At one point, a cab ride across berlin cost a million german dollars. Germany wrote a new constitution, and then they split up parliament. Soon no one party would ever win 50%, and there were like 13 different governments. German workers" party was like a motorcycle gang. politics of the 1930s in germany had a lot of violence. Hitler sets out to alter the nature of this party, renames is national socialist german workers". National/german sounds right wing, socialist/workers" sounds left wing that way they could emphasize certain words and win over both sides of people.
