Secondary source- comments, illuminates, informs an understanding of primary source. Ex: reviews, news articles, critiques, commentary, theoretical considerations. Get a more complicated mindset about an issue / helps understand primary source/topic. Research: think of it as discovery, not one answer, know your resources (library resources, research help @ thompson, etc, keep rhetoric in mind, trust knowledge and ideas. Step 2: do a brief, general internet search. Wiki/google-not scholarlycan lead to other more credible sources (@ bottom) What types of people are discussing the topic? (who has the ethos) How are they discussing this topic? (enter a debate) Think of words and phrases as a strategy (a way to work through an idea) Review first 4 steps and think about important/interesting ideas. Refine as you research- if you are not finding helpful secondary sources, you should rethink your key words and phrases. What is your general purpose? (what do you want to do)
