Three subtypes: family only (fo, borderline/dysphoric (bd, generally violent/antisocial (gva) Borderline/dysphoric (bd: these bd batterers are hypothesized to come from a background involving parental abuse and rejection, leading these men to have difficulty forming a stable and trusting attachment with an intimate partner. Instead, they are highly dependent upon, yet fearful of losing, their wives. Consistent with this attachment style and their borderline personality characteristics, they are jealous. Generally violence/antisocial (gva) more men: these gva batterers resemble other antisocial, aggressive groups. They have experienced high levels of family of origin violence and have had the most association with deviant peers. They may be dismissing in their attachment style (the(cid:455)"ll tell their part(cid:374)er to do (cid:449)hat the(cid:455) like, but not really dismissive because if you break his rule they get violent or pissed off).
