Document Summary

*had a guest speaker come in to talk about race. Involvement started when asked to defend minority program, because he was the only non white person talking about the race. No scientific definition of what a race is. You never argue that there is no such thing as race, because whatever science may say we have always acted otherwise. Talked about cases that have been all throughout the world about race. Early 1920"s there were post world war one riots in black neighborhoods and all kinds of neighborhoods. Japanese american applied for naturalization and didn"t qualify because he was not white. Determining race on where people come from. Difficult for people in the united states to think or talk about what has happened in the past dealing with race and minorities. Colored and minority people could not get education passed the 8th grade, this carries on to the things you are able to do after school. (careers, etc. )
