Document Summary

The measurement of sound intensity in the air at a listeners location. Perception of loudness of the sound as received or heard by the ear: the difference between the loudest and faintest sounds humans can hear is ~120 db. 4000 hz. is where humans hear the best. Humans perceive frequency of sound waves as pitch. Octaves: a factor of two in frequency: humans can hear 8. 5 octaves. Animals are disturbed by loud, abrupt noises, or sounds that are new to them. Screaming at an animal creates stress levels equal to getting shocked by a hotshot: humans, pigs, horses are about the same level of hearing. The ability to accurately position the direction from which the sound originated. Is similar in range and tone to that of humans: frequency range at to which sensitivity is best. Able to hear a wider range of high frequency tones than humans up to 40,000 hz.
