Chapter 4 the science and theory of language development. Evidence-based practice (ebp) integration of best research evidence, clinical expertise, patient values and preferences. (know examples of each one) Best research evidence: comes from the research studies that explain effects of a particular disorder, assessment method, and treatment. Clinical expertise: comes from experiences recorded by professionals working in real life settings. This would include school based slps, slps in home health settings or hospitals. Patient values and preferences: clients or patients and their family members sharing their opinions about treatment and rehabilitation. Basic research: research that focuses on generating and refining existing theories and development of knew theories. Applied research: focuses on addressing specific problems related to different concepts. This type of research includes clinical case studies, experimental research, and comparative studies.
