ENGL 1223 Lecture 2: The Research Variables
Document Summary
In order to make your search for sources efficient, you need to define some variables. This means that you must pick two (2) or three (3) elements (or variables) that interact together. In this example, i am interested in psychology (major). I will be looking at the topic of music, in this case classical music (variable 1). But i need at least one more variable. I can chose to focus on a certain population, for example. In this case, i picked children between the ages of 3 and 5 (variable 2). I can"t simply look at children and music and see what happens: the area i"m covering is too broad -- children do so many things! So i need a third variable: social interactions (variable 3).
