Territorial competition: a lot of competition in south eastern europe. First war that journalist and photographers cover as it is happening. Since russia kicked napoleon out they seem to be invincible. They will have to make concessions during the talk. No military patrol on the black sea. There were 250,000 men killed: mostly from diease. Italy had been largely divided since the end of the holy roman empire. France is in control of the area around rome. 1848 has rebellions and it looks like it is going well but it will be crushed. 1861 the italians have unified most of italian. It becomes unfied with rome as its capital. The reformers want all the german states to be unified.
