HSC 232 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Straight Leg Raise, Impaired Glucose Tolerance, List Of Flexors Of The Human Body
Document Summary
Why do we test: need to collect baseline data, educate a client about his or her present physical condition and health risk, motivate a client by helping him or establish realistic goals. Demotivational aspects of early assessments: not all clients need or desire a complete fitness assessment from the start, clients needs and goals should be considered. Assessment categories: resting vital signs, static posture movement screens, joint flexibility and muscle lengths, balance and core function, cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, muscular endurance or strength, skill-related parameters. Resting vital signs: resting hr, blood pressure. Movement screens: bend and lift screens, hurdle step screen, shoulder push screen, shoulder pull stabilizing screen. If their leg comes off the table they have tight hip flexors. If the leg straightens they have tight quads: passive straight leg raise, apley"s scratch test, shoulder flexion test, sit and reach internal/extension rotation. Balance assessments: sharpened romberg test, stork-stand, y balance test.
