Profiling- process of drawing inferences about a criminal based on the crime scene. Serial killers- murderers who kill more than three people in separate events with a cooling off period. Signature- distinctive, personal feature of a crime that usually reveals something of the killer"s personality (almost never changes, explains why they do what they do) Original profile on the mad bomber worked but many details were off. He did not have repressed anger towards his father and didn"t yearn for his mother"s love. Suffer from some form of brain injury that impairs rational thinking. Have experience from some sort of physical, sexual, and/or psychological abuse during childhood. Almost all are white males with average intelligence (not all!) Most don"t use guns, however use more intimate means to kill. Most select victims of a particular type. Have violent sexual fantasies or replay their killings in their mind for sexual stimulation. Seek out relatively powerless victims (children, ill, or elderly)
