Most of the archaeology in the us reflects the history of native. Americans but these communities are highly underrepresented in parks and museums. Understand the historical genesis of the discipline of archaeology and studies of prehistory. Archaeology is a product of the enlightenment. Human reason and experience could be used to combat ignorance, superstition, and tyranny and to build a better world. Targets: religion (embodied in france in the catholic church) and the domination of society by hereditary aristocracy.
