Political economy leadership: political authority, power, production and consumption of goods. Use of power in public (within families) Institutions and procedures related to decision-making (political), conflict resolution (social control/legal) Political economy refers to the role of leadership, political authority, and power in production, distribution and consumption of goods/services. Functionalism emphasizes the way in which institutions in a group keep the group bonded and harmonious. Processualism emphasizes processes as controlled by the leader: functionalism. Iskut (maybe not as much today but definitely around 100 years ago) Foragers ->oldest political organization in human history. Related kin: emphasis put on getting along, reciprocity, know everyone. Political life and everyday life are the same: ex. Political decisions aren"t that different from their every day family based economic system. Achieved leadership it"s not passed down through a family life. Food production, small surpluses (even large surpluses: redistribute wealth, leadership job. 100-seveal 100, few 1000 people (everyone may not know each other)
