Economics -> wealth, access to resources (wealth is relative) Sociology -> yes, social stratification is universal - always exists inequalities exist between individuals. Anthropology -> social stratification is nearly universal but it doesn"t have to exist. 3 part etic framework individual inequality may exist but social stratification does not have to exist egalitarian society. No groups with more access to political power, economic wealth, or status. Bands lots of ways to gain status. Class -> a group that has roughly equal access to economic wealth, political power and status. Doesn"t really talk about any personal maisin he does more of an overview of everyone- all you really get to know is barker. Wanted a make for undergrad and specialists. He talked about how anthropology is done. Made by women but barker makes it? everything but we don"t in the same way. We don"t have symbols the way the maisin do- they have tapa cloth that can tie together.
