This is the cycle of: monthly formation, release of an immature egg. It is controlled by gnrh: from the hypothalamus. Promotes the development of a follicle: secretes estrogen. Ovulation around day 14 in the twenty-eight day cycle: luteal phase. Luteinizing hormone (lh) promotes the development of the corpus luteum. A 28-day cyclic event in the uterus: days 1 5: Progesterone: cause the inner uterine lining to disintegrate. Menstruation occurs: days 6 13 (proliferative phase): Causes the endometrium to thicken: day 14: Ovulation usually occurs: days 15 28 (secretory phase): Causes endometrium to: double in thickness, triple in thickness.
