Play that involves social interaction in group w/ sense of organized activity. 2 - 3 years: mostly parallel play; some solitary play and some associative play. 3 - 4 years: mostly associative, a little parallel and cooperative. 4 - 5 years: mostly associative and cooperative play. some parallel; little onlooker and solitary. Many children spend more time w/ various screen media than they do interacting w/ parents and peers. Screen time should be limited to no more than 1 hour per day. Enhance cognitive and social abilities, when used appropriately. Over 24 studies conducted w/ more than 10,000 children in 15 countries. Children spend more time w/ peers in middle and late childhood than early childhood.
