Document Summary

Bronfenbrenner: bi-directional = relationship between child and his/her environment. Originally thought it was uni-directional (environment affecting the child) before bronfenbrenner. The child also affects his/her environment (temperament). Easy babies elicit/provoke higher quality parenting because of more positive feedback from baby. Difficult babies elicit lower quality care because they"re more challenging to care for: hierarchial systems. Microsystem = environments where child lives daily lives (direct contact) Mesosystem = connections between microsystems that affect child. Exosystem = a place where the child has no contact with but will still affect thing. Macrosystem = overarching environmental experience (rules and regulations, culture, government, cultural values) Chronosystem = refers to time, reflects changes that occur to all different systems. Is the consequence stimulus good or bad? (from the child"s perspective) Good stimulus + presented = positive reinforcement. Good stimulus + removed = negative punishment. Bad stimulus + presented = positive punishment. Bad stimulus + removed = negative reinforcement.
