IST 210 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Sql, Nibble, Binary Large Object
Document Summary
Old system of storage used the computers drive, folders, files, and records stored within the files. Concurrency: two or more people trying to access one resource. New system of storage used an "engine" to abstract access to data which is stored in tables. Sql: structured query language (how you get data out of a database) Serialization: converting text (human) to binary (computer) and back again. Task switching: modern computers use "threads" which can cause data integrity problems (see: acid rules)
