Attributions: the causes/explanations for behavior (external versus internal attributions: example: joe is smiling. External attribution (environment): something good must have happened to joe. Internal attribution (personality): joe is a happy guy. Self-serving bias: we attribute our failures to external causes and our successes to internal causes.
