Document Summary

Stat 200. 201 elementary statistics - lecture 2: summarizing variables. Histogram, stem and leaf plot, and boxplot. You can calculate percentage using the frequency of a color and the total eyes. This can be shown using a pie chart and a bar chart. Different amounts of frequencies still add up to 100% in a given situation. Split values into lower half and upper have. Order the numbers by least to greatest. 1st q and 3rd q is just half way between the median and the min/max. 5 numbers are: min, 1q, median(2q), 3q and max. Like a bar chart but boxes are connected and percentage can be added in. Useful for comparing two or more groupings. Some boxplots will have outliers that lines the lines will not connect to. Skewed right ( values trail off to right) Skewed left (values trail off to left) One number of could result in major change. There could be an error but little change.
