Researchers have found them in tree holes far north frozen to death, seems they didn"t get enough food to live there. If there was a bit more food, a bit higher temp, or more daylength to allow for food searching, leading to several factors creaing northern dist edge. This shows that there can be several factors atributed to dis limitaion. Implicaions under global warming: example: american beech-both north and south dist limits are set by temp, important tree species economically and ecologically.
