Next week quiz on aroniwithz boorse and nocebo. He is looking at the history of disease as a group of symptoms. He thinks the word symptom is the sort of mental and physical phenomena that are experienced with or consituing disease this was the idea in the early 19th century. In the late 19th century it is the subjecive experience of disease. This goes with the diference between symptoms and signs. This relects an alteraion in organ funcion which is less precise. The sign is objecive and observable or veriiable. It relects and alteraion or disturbance of the organ itself. In the early 19 th we focused on the signs which shows and approach which is more biomedical and shows a push for speciicity. There is a transiion from experience to alteraion at the organ level to the alteraion at the cellular level which is the push for speciicity.
