Week 3 objectivism and boorse: the story so far. There is a condition (maybe, there are symptoms) Maybe, it is what causes the condition or the symptoms. The feature that makes a difference for having versus not having the condition is a physiological cause: but plenty of things could be caused by features of physiology without counting as diseases. Neuroaesthetics : study of neural bass of aesthetic judgment and production. The same would presumably go for functional or neuroanatomical studies of sexual identity, political orientation, and the like. We need to add something, but what: the objectivist viewpoint. Diseases can be characterized via purely objective means. It is due to the biology of the circumstance that this condition is a disease: what separates a pathological process or feature from a neutral or healthy one is a matter of biology, the objectivist goal. Count certain conditions as diseases through appeal to science alone.
