A reliable classification system is one in which a patient is judged to have a same condition based on the same signs and symptoms, regardless of who is doing the judgment: measurement of reliability, cohen"s kappa (p-c)/(1-c) Measurement of agreement probability that is greater than chance agreement: used with categorical variables, 0 is chance agreement, 1 is perfect agreement. On this operationalization of reliability, the closer the value to 1, the more reliable: an example. Suppose you have two people eat something that they may classify as chocolate or nutella.
