10/24 Factorial Experimental Designs Summary • Factorial designs test the effects of two independent variables on a dependent variable **it is also possible to have multiple dependent variables but not necessary • Ex. effect of color and size of stuffed animal on how much children like the stuffed animal • Main Effect: when there is a significant effect of one independent variable, averaged over all levels of another independent variable o This can be found by determining whether there is a difference between the means for the conditions of one independent variable • Interaction: the effect of one independent variable depends on the level of another
