Document Summary

Ecology: organisms and interactions with living and non-living environment. Biogeography: distributions of species in space and time. Ecosystem--all species + non-living things in an area. Equator hit directly, so high heat & light. Poles hit indirectly, so low heat & light. Dr(cid:455) air falls ~30 degrees n a(cid:374)d s, a(cid:271)sor(cid:271)i(cid:374)g (cid:373)oisture fro(cid:373) la(cid:374)d for(cid:373)i(cid:374)g deserts. Seasonality--tilt of planet causes variation in light and temperature. Bodies of water--carry warm or cold currents & moderate land temperatures. Great britain is at the same latitude as canada but has similar climate as new england even though it"s further north. But because of the warm water current that flows past great britain, it makes the water climate warmer! Wind is coming from west to east (in this example), hits the mountain ranges and goes upwards. Warmer air dumps all of moisture on the windward side.
