Document Summary

B cells produce igm normally and then in mucous membrane, class switch to iga but some will class switch to ige. Ige has special fc part that attaches to mast cells. This sensitizes your mast cells so the second time you"re exposed to the same allergen, ige recognizes it and the mast cell will release mediators. This causes the allergic response of the body. Igg from allergy shots can bind to the allergen and neutralize it before it binds to the ige antibody. Type 2 hypersensitivity- antibody mediated via complement of nk cells small molecule (hapten) binds to cell surface, or cells with different surface proteins are introduced into the blood(if you"re pregnant) If placenta leaks during pregnancy or delivery the blood will come in contact with mothers b cells which will sensitize the b cells to produce antibodies against rh proteins -in the baby.
