Performative competence: the competence needed to produce effective and appropriate behaviors (doing communication correctly, surface level of competence, part of competence that can be seen, day to day competent behaviors, examples, eye contact. Process competence: all the cognitive activity and knowledge necessary to generate adequate performance (mental part, deeper level of competence, everything we need to know in order to perform! It includes the ability to code and decode verbal, nonverbal, and relational messages. Interpretive competence: the a(cid:271)ility to , label, organize, and interpret the conditions surrounding an interaction, assign meaning to the world, we (cid:272)a(cid:374)"t possi(cid:271)ly pro(cid:272)ess all sti(cid:373)uli so we must learn to assess situations.
