1. What are the 6 rights discussed in Chapter 28?
a. (1) Right to Life
i. A supreme right, greatest priority. Ensure the maximum extent of survival
and development of the child. Must be implemented in a holistic manner
b. (2) Right to adequate food
i. A fundamental right to not have to starve. Availability of foods and
accessible to all individuals under the jurisdiction of the state.
c. (3) Right to water
i. Everyone has a right to sufficient, safe, accessible, physically acceptable
water for personal and domestic uses.
d. (4) Right to health
i. The enjoyment of, and equal access to, appropriate health care and, more
broadly, to goods, services and conditions which enable a person to live a
healthy life. Includes adequate food and nutrition, housing, safe drinking
water and adequate sanitation, and a healthy environment.
e. (5) Right to adequate housing
i. The right to live somewhere in security, peace and dignity. Core elements
of this right include security of tenure
