Draws scapula medially upward while moving inferior angle medially; inclines neck to same side. Clavicular and sternocostal parts: flexion, assist in respiration when shoulder is fixed. Draws scapula downward, causing inferior angle to move posteromedially; rotates glenoid inferiorly; assists in respiration.
