The senate and house of representatives made up congress. Representatives have 2 years in office and said to be closer to the people than senators. All revenue related bills have to start in the house. To be a representative you must be: 25 years old, us citizen for a least 7 years. The senate could not completely turn over like the house. 17th amendment- established the direct election of senators by citizens. To be a senator you must be: 30 years old, us citizen for at least 9 years. Vice president is the head of the senate and can cast a vote if there is a tie. Lame duck- after the next president, representative, or senator is elected to take their spot but they still currently in office. Countries have sovereign and the country has to give permission to be sued. Commander and chief of the armed forces: to protect the army from raising up against the government.
