Tell patient that they should check the breast every day at home. Engorgement period is when the breast milk fully comes in. Look for redness, feel for firm or hardness, difference in temperature, firm or hard area is due to a clogged milk duct. Look at the (cid:272)o(cid:374)ditio(cid:374) of the (cid:374)ipples, should(cid:374)"t (cid:271)e really pink, red, cracked or bleeding. Make sure to break suction of babies mouth before you remove the baby.
