Environment (are they in the crib, are they dressed, are they alone, are the parents fighting) Temperature: axillary, normal is 97. 6 99. 6. Do not do blood pressures unless necessary. Do vital signs that are least invasive. Heart rate: 110-160, listen for a whole minute. Listen with the bell (could hear murmurs: transient murmurs (come and go) Should not lose more than 10% of weight. Needs to be done with a heating element. 3 parts of an assessment: reflexes (neuro) Blink (tap above the bridge of the nose) done after the eye ointment. Rooting (touch the face and head should turn in that direction)
