Document Summary

Chromosomal errors and particular genes can have drastic, often devastating effects on physical, intellectual, and social development. Behaviour genetics: study of how characteristics and behaviours of individuals, such as intelligence and personality, are influenced by the interaction between genotype and experience. Its helping to show that the entire realm of human behaviour is influenced by nature and nurture and in complex ways. How much the population differences in a trait and how much can be explained by genetics. One goal of many of these studies has been to provide an estimate of the hereditability of various traits and behaviours. Hereditability: proportion of variability in the phenotype that is estimated to be accounted for by genetic influences within a known environmental range. Refers to the extent to which the variability n a sample of individuals on some characteristic, such as shyness or assertiveness is a result of genetic differences among those individuals.
