French studios didn"t follow strategy of banding together to beat hard economic times they just continued to try to beat each other, and a lot quickly when bankrupt. But those that embraced sound helped save the industry, leading to a creative burst. Creative burst: polarized politics & economic anxieties provide fuel for french filmmakers. Sound: the expressiveness of sound also inspires filmmakers and leads to a highly innovative, unique decade in french cinema.
