Hesiod"s five ages of man t:41-44: golden race. The gods fashioned a golden race of mortal men they lived in the reign of kronos. Men had everything they wanted and lived in peace. This race was hidden under the earth they are givers of wealth who keep off harm: silver race. The gods fashioned a lesser, silver race of men. The silver race of men were mortal and lived violent lives, and they did not embrace the gods. This race was hid away because they did not embrace the gods: bronze race. Zeus made this race sprung from an ash tree worse than the silver race but still strange and powerful. They did not eat, they loved violence their limbs were invincible. They died by their own hands and went down to the underworld: race of heroes/demi-gods. Kronos made this race they were more just and good the race before modern men.
