Motivation and emotion reflect different psychological processes. Motivations are psychological processes that define our goals and guide goal- directed behavior. Emotions are combinations of physical sensations in the body and subjective feelings that we experience automatically in response to certain kinds of stimuli. Motivation and emotion must work together to define and help fulfill our goals. Motivations help determine the kinds of stimuli that evoke emotional reactions. If some event has no implication for your goals then you are unlikely to have strong feelings about it.
