Document Summary

Nussbaum"s answers as to what should be distributed are different from the usual (welfare and resources) Welfare: how one feels about their quality of life / has to do with emotion and not physical division of resources. A person who is naturally happy, wouldn"t need any resources to get to that level of welfare. There are others, however, with expensive tastes who would need a lot more to reach that level of welfare. The move nussbaum makes is to say that welfare doesn"t seem right as being the things that should be distributed. What makes you better off, she says, is what makes you better off is not wealth, but what you can do with it. With certain wealth and resources, you are able to actually do something. Part of resources is that they make choice possible. Choosing your way of life is valuable in itself.
