What socrates was calling sophistry is what frankfurt is calling bullshit. It has an internal structure or intelligible nature. Formula that different things can be the same, draw connections between things. It needs to be distinguished from what it is not. A bullshitter has no concern for the truth, but for something else. Possibly talking about a topic you don"t know anything about. But could also be that you"re very knowledgeable about the topic. What adam could say could just be in his self-interest. Citizens have to make a choice which they are not incredibly knowledgeable.
