In the apology socrates"s complaint is one he cant say. There is a limit to what he can say without just making people mad. He wants to say that athenian culture has devolved back into nature. Saying that people are just going through nature. Just persisting wheteher or not it aligns with the needs of the people. He is pretty much calling the athenians savages/barbarians. Because they inhabit and invest in these forms of life because they are there. They are pursuing self interest as the immediate goal of one"s activities. Socrates is saying that these people are not examining their lives. The unexamined life is not a life worth living.
