Qotc: do you ever come out of a marvel movie and just ask your friends what is a movie" and they"re like what the hell are you talking about" . Artistic form is from artistic intention and spectator perception. Elements of filmmaking (cinematography, color, etc) gives direction of how viewer should feel. Form: the viewers relationship with the building blocks of the film that shapes and determines how the viewer reacts, feels and thinks. Films can be on the same general topic but have different approaches (ex. holocaust) Provides a guideline to determine expectation that leads to a genre (you know what you"re getting when youre going to a superhero movie) Elements may be used similarly in a certain genre. Form can situate how we evaluate films. Dont think if things are good or bad; successful or unsuccessful. Function: how does the element serve to do within the form, its purpose.
