Document Summary

Continuum: finding a balance between persuading and truth seeking (how much you need to persuade your audience) Depends a lot on the audience and their degree of resistance. How willing they are to hear your argument and how willing they re to agree with you. Classical argument: neutral or skeptical (audience)- balanced between persuading and truth- seeking (essay 1) Dialogic argument: resistant audience- really don"t agree with you persuading. Too much persuading might offend them, will just make them more resistant and unwilling to listen. One-sided argument: friendly audience- agree with you- have to be more persuasive because you want them to do something- call to action. Visual argument assignment: analyze a visual argument, create a visual argument, written proposed argument outline, written analysis. Explicit argument: directly stated claim supported with reasons or evidence. Implicit argument: implied, might to look like an argument or you might have to work to gure it out.
