All organisms require substances to sustain life, human beings require certain vitamins and minerals to stay healthy. These substances are found in food, drink, tablets, and supplements. The vitamins humans need can be broken down into water soluble (vitamin b1 thiamine, b2 riboflavin, b5 pantothenic acid, b6 pyridoxine, b12 cyanocobalamin, c niacin, biotin, folic acid, ascorbic acid) and fat soluble (vitamin a, d, e, k) Vitamin deficiencies create disorders, too many vitamins create problems as well. The minerals humans need to stay healthy include zn, cu, mg, mn, k, na, ca, i, fe, p, se. There have been food crises around the world during the 50"s, 60"s, and late 60"s. 50"s, a lot of food production and famine decreased worldwide. 60"s lower food production and famine increased worldwide (high birth rates, poor crop yields) Late 60"s food production increased and famine decreased worldwide. Any major flood or drought could leave to widespread starvation.
